Souness questions why Arnie is at West Ham

|

Graeme Souness has plugged into the ‘let’s have a pop at West Ham’ brigade by questioning why Marko Arnautovic is playing for the Irons.

The old Liverpool sourpuss took a leaf out of Mark Lawrenson’s book in the build-up to today’s game on Sky  by asking the question.

He said: “No disrespect to West Ham but my only question mark against him is why is he playing for West Ham with the ability he has got.

“He has everything sufficient to play at the highest level so why is he at  the club.”

Arnautovic became the centre of the pundits’ conversation when it became clear that a calf injury would keep him out of today’s game after hopes had been high he would make the game.

Instead Michail Antonio is presented with the chance of linking up with Andriy Yarmolenko and Felipe Anderson up top in a team otherwise unchanged from the win over Everton.

Team: Fabianski, Zaba, Balbuena, Diop, Masuaku; Anderson, Noble, Obiang, Rice, Yarmolenko, Antonio

No disrespect to Sky but why should customers hard earned subscription money pay for the opinions of s such a dull mysoginistic dinosaur.

Bloody idiot.Because fools like you think that only the so called top six can have class players in abundance (half who sit on subs benches every week) and the rest of us can only pick up the scraps from the top table and have our best players taken and youth teams plundered. What a brain dead remark

  • Hammersone says:

He’s right hugh, arnautovic should be playing in a top 4 or 5 team He has the ability to play at that level and regular champions league. He won’t get that chance at West Ham. I’m glad he’s with us but you can’t argue with his analysis in my view hugh. I find Souness is one of the better pundits and mostly talks sense. I agree with him.

Very negative remark.Your thoughts would suggest we just have a top six or maybe eight premiership filled with all the best players and sod the rest. With the exception of Leicester (never happen again) you can pretty much pick your champions at the start of every season for the very reason Souness advocates. Its the billionaires against the rest. After 40 years i still dream of top class european competition for West Ham whereas your comment would suggest you have given up.Never stop believing otherwise the game we all love is dead.

You can apply the Souness theory to a lot of other players in the Premiership,ie why did Pickford go from Sunderland to Everton, why is Zaha still at Palace?why is Callum Wilson still at Bournemouth?I can go on but just for Graham’s benefit,Arnie (who was at Stoke City!) paid the price for him and he was willing to come.It has only been since Moyes switched him to striker that other clubs have become interested. If you were to use your theory Graham then the Premiership would consist of 6 teams because the rest would become irrelevant.
