Ten goal Anderson “happy” with his first season

|

Felipe Anderson has declared himself happy with his season and a tally of ten goals.

Indeed he reckons the 2018/19 campaign will go down as one of the best of his career to date!

He explained to www.whufc.com: “I had very good seasons in Lazio but this is a very difficult league and the team had a difficult situation because it had a lot of new players, so that has made it one of my best seasons in Europe.

“Arriving to a completely new team and beating some very good rivals, playing very well as we did and get a series of victories and continuing to work was something very good.

“I always say that whenever a team is doing well, the players look better and with me it wasn’t any different. I have helped my team to get some wins and I’m happy to have adapted quickly to English football – a football with a lot of quality.

“But I always say that the most important thing is that we are playing well and winning, unfortunately on Saturday we couldn’t win but I hope we can finish the season strongly and in the best possible way.

“It would be great to play the Copa America, the Brazilian shirt is special for every player that wears it and I want to keep on doing it for a long time.

ClaretandHugh says: Sometimes things get lost in translation but I’m trying to square these comments with what Felipe had to say a couple of weeks ago when claiming he could have done better in his first season and that there was more to come from him. Regardless of that 10 goals is a very decent return and there have been times when he has looked a world beater – not too often it’s true – but the ability is most certainly there and after a settling in season there’s much to look forward to from him next term. In many respects the £35 million man has reflected the team’s problem – inconsistency. When he’s good he’s very good when he’s not well let’s just say he’s frustrating but there’s always the thought that he could suddenly explode and change a game. He certainly hasn’t hit the Player of the Season stakes just yet but I’d sooner he was on our team than any other in the division!
