The Lingard factor! Time to move on

|

It really is time to put the Jesse Lingard thing to bed!

He came saw and conquered at the London Stadium for us last season and did the same again for his Manchester United team on Sunday as was always going to be inevitable.

Now, however, we may have to opportunity to compare his replacement Nikola Vlasic with the 28 year old when the two teams meet tomorrow evening.

I would expect Vlasic to be in the team at this stage of proceedings and we need to start seeing from him the reasons Moyes decided to splash a lot of money on the former Spartak Moscow attacking midfielder.

I would also like the chance to take a look at Alex Kral.

Lingard’s day is done as a Hammer and I have had enough of writing about him – hopefully this will be the last – as I really do like the look of his replacement.

I would expect him to be more effective than on Sunday with what may well be a much changed United side but the big question for me is whether Mikey Antonio is brought back in.

Frankly I can see no reason why not was I believe it would have been a very different game on Sunday had he been around.

Hopefully we can bury the Lingard thing once and for all tomorrow night and contionue our involvement on all fronts later this season.

Thanks for your last season Jesse but now it’s time to move.
