Thrilling West Ham come back at Newport

|

A West Ham U21 side beat Newport County at Rodney Parade tonight despite being 4-1 down at one stage.

The West Ham youngsters came back in stunning fashion winning the EFL trophy group stage 5-4 in the 88th minute!

The Hammers had a perfect start with Antony Scully scoring in less than a minute before Newport scored four goals before half time.

West Ham started the second half strongly with Joe Powell getting one back to make it 4-2, five minutes laterĀ  Ben Johnson crossed towards the back post, where Veron Parkes is able to guide the ball back across goal to make it 4-3.

In the 84th minute, Dan Kemp passed to Antony Scully, who plays in Kai Corbett and the young substitute has time and space to lash the ball low into the bottom corner to make it level at 4-4.

Just four minutes later Dan Kemp breaks forward into space and all of a sudden it’s a two-on-one situation! He bides his time, draws the defender in, and squares to Antony Scully, whose first strike is saved, but he bundles it home 2nd time around for his second goal of the night and to win the game 5-4!
