Callum Wilson was one who kept us guessing with his ‘will he, won’t he‘ quit the club: In the end it was inevitable that the veteran striker – who could have done a brilliant job in the Championship – chose to make the jump back through the emergency exit to the Premier League as soon a suitable club came knocking.
For Wilson made no secret of hankering after the five goals he needs to join the PL 100 club.
As soon as a deal was on the table, Wilson joined Brentford on a year long contract. However, the former Bournemouth, Newcastle and West Ham striker is still waiting to add to his 95 – goal tally.
He’s made three appearances off the bench for Brentford without scoring, but has added two Carabao Cup goals since joining the Bees.
With Igor Thiago hitting the net 5 times, Kevin Schade 4 and even Keane Lewis Potter bagging three goals, Wilson has found opportunities scarce this season but, hopefully for the player, he’ll find more game time as the season progresses and injuries and suspensions to other players mount up.
Forever remembered for scoring West Ham’s “goal that never was” when VAR intervened in ‘that’ Arsenal game, (main image) few West Ham fans would begrudge Wilson the chance to hit his hundred and then retire..preferably before he has the chance to score against us once we are back in the top tier next season!
it is a shame when the sometimes great players believe their own press and forget that it might have been 5 or more years ago that it was written such is my belief that this is one of those cases having said that i hope he gets his 5 goals It won’t affect us
