Triple Euro winner warns Hammers ahead of Palace

Hammers star Emerson is expecting a tough game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tomorrow.

One might not think that a player who has won every European trophy would be overly concerned by a trip to a mid-table Premier League team. However, the Hammers’ left-back was keen to remind everyone that West Ham have not performed too well against the Eagles recently.

When speaking to the press ahead of the fixture, Emerson said, “Crystal Palace won against Liverpool at Anfield, which is a big result for them. We know of their quality because we lost both games against them last season, and this season at home we drew. We know their strengths when they play at home and the atmosphere will be good after a big result. It’s not easy to play against Liverpool at Anfield, but they won.

Emerson has not enjoyed the best of times against Palace

“We are expecting a big game and I think the last few games of every season are tough because every team is fighting for important places in the table.”

Palace’s motivation could be a big factor. They are safe from relegation but too far off the European places. That being said, their performance against Liverpool was scintillating at times and they are clearly enjoying life under a new regime.

West Ham will have to be at their best to get anything from this game, but nothing less than a win will do.
