Twenty goal forward’s ‘come and get me’ transfer flirt after one failed West Ham bid

Despite West Ham signing forward Joel Piroe in the summer on a loan with obligation to make the deal permanent should the Hammers secure promotion, there’s talk of other forwards on West Ham’s shopping list still harbouring ambition to make the move into the English league with its inherent higher profile – and pay days.

It’s a sportwitness.co.uk claim that twenty-goal Bundesliga 2 striker Mohamed Ali Zoma was the subject of a failed West Ham bid in the summer just gone: Six goals this season and fourteen last year shows that the forward clearly knows where the goal lies.

Bundesliga 2 striker Ali Zouma will have to look elsewhere for a winter move

Mind you, the same claim was made about Pablo Felipe’s exploits in Portugal before he joined West Ham and then went eighteen games without scoring.

Ali Zoma was, according to sportwitness last month, “disappointed when his transfer to West Ham was blocked’  by his club who refused to sanction the deal – but evidently he’s still holding out for a move to England should the Irons make it back to the top table. The new SW report today claims that Zoma still hankers after a move to east London:

The player was also directly asked about his future after West Ham’s summer approaches.

“Me in the Premier League or Serie A? I’m not closing my doors to anyone. I’m ready and focused, let’s see what the future holds…

Ali Zoma’s stature is growing and it won’t be a surprise if  Serie A clubs come calling soon.

This could leave West Ham in a difficult position, especially if they’re not promoted to the Premier League. Even financially, they could face problems in affording the versatile attacker, who will play more games for Italy in the next few months.”

One of many forwards with links with West Ham last year, you’d suggest that there’ll be zero activity on the ‘Ali Zoma‘ front – or any other striker for that matter –  until the promotion issue is settled next May, however much the player flutters his eyelashes and hopes for a rekindling of the talks which took place last transfer window.

West Ham have a bigger priority just now, just to stay in the automatic promotion places.

There’ll be plenty of time next summer to worry about replacing or upgrading Joel Piroe once the race is won. Until then, the former Leeds man is back in his element within the second tier and has already proved to be ‘good enough‘ for this season.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.
