Two-goal Hammer ‘Mavro’ stakes claim

|

Great to see Konstantinos Mavropanos  grabbing those two goals  for Greece and giving himself a chance of selection at the weekend although it is likely to still be too early given the form of the other Hammers central defenders.

It may take injury or suspension for him to get his chance but at least for now we can blind eye the problems he has encountered on that front himself down the years.

Rising to head home his first goal against Gibraltar demonstrated to some extent anyway why the manager had bought the player as another who can thrive get on the end of Ward-Prowse set pieces.

As a defender we will need to wait and see as Gib are hardly a world force in football and put very little pressure on him and the Greece side.

We are likely to see him as the third option rather than Oggy when the time arrives and in the meantime occupying a bench position.
