Video: Alan Irvine pre-match Wolves presser

|

First-team coach Alan Irvine told reporters on Friday that Sunday’s game against Wolves is huge as the Hammers try to get points on the board.

Irvine told journalists on a Zoom virtual meeting “It is another huge game. Obviously, every team wants to get some points on the board as quick as possible. We are disappointing we haven’t got any in the two previous games. We felt we certainly should have got something from the Arsenal game albeit we were disappointed with our performance in the Newcastle game.

We need a good performance against what will be a very good team and we have to try and get some points on the board as soon as possible. As you say, the fixture list hasn’t been kind in the way it has come out at the beginning and we probably all knew that from the moment we saw it.

We have to play everyone during the course of the season and what will be regarded by other people as a kinder run of fixtures at some other point, will obviously come. We need to get points wherever we can and the thing is with this league, you are never quite sure where you will get your points from.

Looking at our games after lockdown, I am not sure too many people saw us getting points off Chelsea and that was, of course, a really important game.”
