Video: Ralph Hasenhüttl on West Ham

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has issued a rallying call to Saints fans ahead of tonight’s encounter against West Ham.

The south coast side are looking for their third home win on the bounce after beating both Watford and Norwich.

Hasenhuttl said: “For us, it’s always important to have the fans behind us. It gives us the boost we need. If we have this anything is possible. We must know it is a tough game and at home winning is the best we can imagine.

“The most important thing is we get trust in what we’re doing again, especially in home games. You could feel the behaviour changed and the way we played was different and this helped massively to get good results.

“At home we know we have to create chances and speed up the game to get the crowd behind, to make them enthusiastic.

“If we played like we did in the last three games the chance is a big one. Although we didn’t take a point we played well at Newcastle and this is the way we want to go.

“Then it’s about fighting for every inch to grab as many points as possible.”

“In our situation, every game is very important. It’s always important to take points,” added the Saints manager.

“We had a good run before the Newcastle game and we played there with a lot of self-confidence, but the last game was really hurting because we could have taken more than no points.

“We had a good chance on a difficult ground to take something. I think our performances are improving at the moment.

“We are playing better than we were a few weeks before. The two good results in the home games helped us massively and now we have another home game.

“The self-confidence at home is also coming back but we know that West Ham is also a very difficult opponent.

“We’ve played them twice since I’ve been here and have taken no points.

“We should stay on our track and our way. We want to play football and if we do this we have a chance to win at home.”
