It sounds as though all the rumours and speculation about what may be going on at higher levels inside our club have far more than a grain of truth in them.
News comes from 6foot2.co.uk that the swanky Players Award ceremony dinner etc has been cancelled by the club.
It has often been held at the Grosvenor Hotel on London’s upmarket Park Lane and costing £3720 per standard table.
Usually held in May, there has been announcements or promotions of the event which usually helps fund the West Ham Academy.
Awards usually include top goal scorer of the season, signing of the season, team performance of the season, save of the season, goal of the season, young Hammer of the season, Dylan Tombides award, Players’ Player of the Season, Individual performance of the season, Players’ project award, Women’s Hammer of the Year and of course the climax with the Hammer of the year being crowned.
But not this season with a senior insider quoted as saying: “It is entirely inappropriate with the season we have had.”
One can forget all the talk of new directors of football and the possibility of how that may affect the management structure of West Ham.
But to take this sort of action is the fiercest accusation possible after a campaign which has left nearly everything to be desired.
