West Ham have been described as “confident” about signing Slavia Prague’s El Hadji Malick Diouf.
The transfer of the wing-back to the London Stadium has dragged on ever since Fabrizio Romano first revealed that the Hammers had submitted a €20m bid.
West Ham sources have admitted the club are indeed interested in the player, while Slavia Prague president Jaroslav Tvrdík has acknowledged he expects Diouf to leave this summer. However, he also suggested that West Ham’s offer is lower than reported—despite confirming that the Senegalese international is no longer part of the club’s plans for next season.
Rumours of Serie A side Atalanta’s interest persist, but last night a transfer insider told Claret & Hugh that Diouf remains a top target for the Hammers: “They expect it to happen. They’re confident—it’s just small details.”
It is understood that the 20-year-old has agreed personal terms via his agent and is keen to move to the London Stadium.
That said, interest from elsewhere cannot be ruled out, and until a final agreement on the fee is reached with Slavia Prague, there’s still a chance another club could try to hijack the deal.
