The game of West Ham transfer chess appears to be in full swing following the revelation that Niclas Füllkrug wants to leave in January.
On Sunday, Füllkrug’s agent, Thorsten Wirth, confirmed that his client was looking for a new club and intended to leave the London Stadium when the window opens.
Yesterday, Sky Sports Germany correspondent Florian Plettenberg outlined the conditions under which the 32-year-old striker could depart, stating that Füllkrug had “decided to leave” and would now be exploring his options.
Club Make Their Position Clear
The former Borussia Dortmund forward would ideally like to return to the Bundesliga — but with everything seemingly on his terms, Claret & Hugh spoke to a top London Stadium source who made it clear the situation isn’t that simple. “He has to take a drop [in wages] if he wants to go home,” was the firm message from the very top.
So while Füllkrug may wish to return to Germany, West Ham have no intention of subsidising his exit. If the striker wants out, he’ll have to accept a significant pay cut to make it happen

Let’s see how much he wants to go home.
It’s a shame it hasn’t worked out, but hopefully the bumper wages he’s been on during his less than underwhelming time with us will help soften the blow of lower wages at his new club.
Fullkrug HalfPay AllGood NoWorries! 👍🏻👋🏻
The quicker Fullkrug leaves the better as I’m sure many if not all fans would agree.
