Following earlier reports that West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek has been informed he can leave the club, Claret & Hugh has received an update regarding the player’s future.
There are multiple stories suggesting that Soucek is wanted by Everton and Leeds United—something C&H first reported back in January. However, some outlets are now claiming the player has been told by West Ham that he’s free to find a new club.
C&H has spoken directly to a source close to the player, who has reaffirmed the Czech’s stance ahead of the transfer window: he’d like to remain at West Ham and sign a new contract.
When we asked if the player had been informed he could leave the London Stadium, we were told: “No, that is not true.”
The reality is that Soucek—who scored his ninth goal of the season at Old Trafford—remains hopeful of staying a Hammer.
That said, selling him remains an option, with ongoing doubts about whether he suits Graham Potter’s style of football. However, from the player’s side, he would happily sign a new contract and finish his career in East London.
Whilst West Ham have received no actual bids for Soucek at this point, Everton are known to have offered the player’s representatives £30k per week more than his current Hammers wage.
As we’ve been reporting since the winter transfer window, Leeds United have made the big Czech midfielder a transfer priority.
Speaking to C&H, a source close to the player informed us: “Tomas would love to stay at West Ham, he loves the place.”
Soucek is expected to fetch between £15–20 million if he leaves the London Stadium.
Madness!!! In times of crisis he has always been our go to goal scorer, who else provides us with those vital goals when needed? Especially when our striker situation as always looks suspect. Tomas easily has more to give for 2 more seasons, to sell him would be a serious mistake

Soucek , when played in the correct position is brilliant and continues to improve . It wouldn’t surprise me if Potter were to sell him because Potter’s a poor coach as proven by multiple poor substitutions , team selections and tactical mistakes ( Man United win 2-1 on XG ). Westham should retain Soucek and dump Potter .
You can’t change the whole of the squad in one transfer window. There needs to be a balance and in midfield Soler, Kudus, Alverez, Cornet, Rodriquez and Irving are all heading out of the club, Paqueta will either be appealing a lifetime ban, in which case it is going to drag on for ages and he should be loaned out or if cleared sold on and wouldn’t be surprised to see Ward-Prowse move on. Soucek might be lacking in some midfield attributes but that’s highlighted by the weaknesses around him and his contribution in both boxes has been vital and I think he’s an important squad player for us and we should keep him 100%.

Please do the sensible thing and keep him on slightly improved terms.
It would be madness to sell Tomas, you would have to replace him with a younger box to box midfielder capable of scoring 9-10 goals a season. Midfielders like that are rare, don’t come cheap and don’t tend to sign for more ambitious clubs

10 goals a season other than bowen no one else is producing them numbers , absolute madness to even consider selling him the man loves west ham and he’s a true soldier, he’s a keeper
The thing is his contribution on the park is minimal with regards to his main task, he is slow, lacks vision and is poor at tackling, but this is overlooked because of the goals that he gets, we need someone who is far more mobile in that position.
I would love to see Tomas stay and I believe that he must be near the bottom of the list of players to be sold
However PSR is real (unless you are Man City or Chelsea) and our position is worse because of the uncertainty around Paqueta the difference between an 80 million sale and a lifetime ban changes our next season
Who we sell will partly depend on who wers get offers for – so we can expect lots of rumours
