West Ham are preparing for life after El Hadji Malick Diouf, and if as widely expected he moves on in this summer’s window, the club are weighing up a move for Harrison Burrows, the highly rated Sheffield United left‑back who has quietly become one of the Championship’s most productive defenders.

Burrows, 24, has built a reputation as one of the EFL’s most creative full‑backs. After joining Sheffield United from Peterborough United for around £6m, he delivered an impressive return of goals, assists and consistent attacking threat from the left flank.

According to reports, the player had previously been recommended to West Ham by Barry Fry, who has known David Sullivan for decades and even worked under him during their time together at Birmingham City. Fry’s eye for talent is well‑established, he was the one who flagged Ivan Toney long before his rise to the Premier League, and he also championed Ronnie Edwards, now at QPR.

For West Ham, the attraction is clear. With a major squad rebuild underway and the left‑back role likely to need attention, Burrows fits the profile perfectly.

Young, Championship‑proven, technically strong and with significant room to grow, his ability to operate in multiple roles on the left would hand Nuno Espírito Santo valuable extra flexibility in that area.

Burrows is represented by Two Touch the same agency that also manages Lewis Orford.

The left back is under contract until 2028, meaning any deal would require a sizeable offer. For now, West Ham’s interest is described as monitoring rather than moving but the link alone hopefully shows the club’s intent to target smart, upward‑trajectory players rather than expensive gambles.

I have been a season ticket holder since the late eighties, so experienced the highs and lows of being a West Ham supporter. I previously wrote for OLAS and have contributed to a number of football publications in the past.

Yeah it’s all bit money grabbing content. This is not news.

You think diouf will go (I don’t think he is good enough for Premier league yet).

You’ve found out this left back has links to West ham via agents and Barry Fry.

So what. I think I’ll just use my own AI to generate content instead.

Ezra Myers looked sound in the few first team games he played also. Especially for one so young..

Guys, can you please save the word “shock” for headlines that merit it. This isn’t a shock, you wrote about it two days ago too. Furthermore, West Ham are so poorly run, very little would surprise any fan!

I will read your articles either way, just calm down a touch please!

Scarles held his own in the premier league. We don’t need to spend money we don’t have on a LB.
