Responding to our earlier article “Protest group’s open letter | Battle lines drawn”, Claret and Hugh reader ‘Ironside’ produced an eloquent and by no means unique response to the proposed fan protest.
As such we feel it deserves a greater audience and so feature it as a ‘guest post’: It is his/her own opinion and does not necessarily represent the views of anyone at Claret and Hugh.
Our earlier article suggested that having no home supporters could be detrimental to the team performance at a time when West Ham are desperate for the points under new coach Nuno Espírito Santo.
Reader offers an alternative perspective on the planned Brentford home fixture fan protest
“I think there’s a very simple solution here that keeps everyone happy.
TV screens don’t notice a few empty seats but do notice a movement of people. Best by far would be everyone buying tickets, staying on the concourse till say the 15th min (representing the 15yrs these fraudsters have owned our Club) and then a mass movement of ppl to their seats.”
“That way a) tv screens would capture it all , b) protest point very much proven and c) we’d have bums on seats for 75% of the game to hopefully cheer us on to a massive 3pts.
Martin, if you are in contact with anyone from the Protest Group please share and thank them for their efforts.”
Great idea Ironside. AKA Don Quixote. Tilting at windmills. Mmmmm.
At a time that we need every bit of effort to support THE PLAYERS, this boycott is ill judged and ill timed.
Yes great idea, then next year fans can take their seats in the 16th minute, the following season the 17th minute and so on. Not that it will have any effect. They are not going anywhere though. West Ham is their life. More chance of David Sullivan dying of natural causes than selling the club.
A much more sensible and visible approach, great suggestion It demonstrates our full support for the team but shows to all the grievance against B&S.
