West Ham have already broken a new record by selling the greatest number of tickets for the first round of the Carabao Cup against Portsmouth on Saturday 8 August.
As of noon yesterday , over 50,000 tickets have been sold for the domestic cup game at the London Stadium, which will be the Hammers’ first game of the season.
At lunchtime yesterday , 11,500 tickets remained on sale, with prices as low as £1 for children and £10 for adults.
West Ham Fans Snap Up Cup Tickets
Portsmouth quickly sold out their allocation of 9,000 and, allowing for a segregation zone of around 1,250 seats, it suggests that over 41,000 West Ham supporters have snapped up tickets.
With 10 days to go before the game, we could see many of the remaining 11,500 tickets sold before kick-off.
Record Attendance In Sight
Leeds United recorded the highest ever League Cup first-round attendance on a Wednesday evening in August 2023, with 35,129 supporters turning out at Elland Road for their win over Shrewsbury Town.
A club spokesperson told Claret & Hugh yesterday: “I think we’ll have sold 60,000 by this time next week.”
So a big watch on how everyone plays tomorrow in Germany as it’s the last friendly. But, as said before on here, should we just concentrate on League games? My opinion today’ll be another 9 subs and virtually 2 teams. Playing in the cup gives the youngsters more game time and maybe a chance to see those who were’nt eligible. like Magassa, Diouf and
Soucek.

Every in-coming transfer comment are all loans! What is going on? This is so familiar to last season, except we didn’t have a World Cup to blame for our very slow pace in recruitment? Nuno is good but he’s not a magician. Our youngsters will not morph into world class players in just one preseason. I have enjoyed not being mentioned with the names of hundreds of players targets who never get signed. But for the love of all things holy, sign a competent useful player sooner rather than the last day
These numbers are based on promises and expectancy.
Team need to produce the goods otherwise this will soon change into despondency.
A loss will bring the worst out in fans.
Wow ‘Same Again’ you are one angry person. Angry and thick I’d say.. You’re right we havent yet bought anybody. We have a squad of nearly all Premier League standard players as it is. We don’t want to just buy any old dross out there. We have had incredible upheaval at the club and you’re already bleating on like we’re heading for League 1. Do us all a favour mate and stay away for the season will you.
You are part of the problem if you are happy with this squad..while there are fans like you “that are over the moon” with the club having no ambition the owners dont need to spend do they!
