West Ham have reasons to be cheerful

West Ham have reasons to be cheerful. The victory over Wolves came via three assists from Lucas Paqueta, leading to the  Kudus goals and a brilliant third from Jarrod Bowen. All good stuff.

But this success didn’t happen by chance. Paqueta – initially a double pivot with Tomas Soucek, saw hks role change with the arrivals of Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse whose set-pieces have elevated West Ham’s expected goals from such situations, ranking us third in the league according to Opta.
Paqueta’s has become a hybrid winger, enhancing his creativity and contributing to West Ham’s counter-attacking strength. His progressive passes and shot-creating actions have significantly increased, showcasing his newfound impact.
In that role Kudus and Bowen have flourished. Bowen has already scored 10 league goals this season, displaying an increase in shots per 90. Kudus, a regular on the right flank, has embraced his role by making more take-ons and contributing goals.
David Moyes has done a good job in integrating quality players like Paqueta and Kudus so quickly and we are now (the Fulham game aside) a formidable threat. The challenge lies ahead with Kudus and Benrahma absent during the Africa Cup of Nations which could prove difficult.
Nevertheless, West Ham’s vibrant front three positions bode well for our continuing climb up the table in the Premier League and hopefully another successful European adventure.
