West Ham can still complete the signing of Adama Boiro despite the 11pm transfer deadline having passed.
That was the view of ExWHUEmployee, speaking to Geo on Hammers Chat during this evening’s transfer round-up show.
Asked about West Ham’s move for the Athletic Club left-back, Ex said:
“It can still happen but it’s taking time.”
The reason is that clubs can be granted a further two hours to finalise a transfer provided the required deal sheet was submitted before the 11pm deadline. That can allow outstanding documentation to be completed up until 1am.
Boiro Remains West Ham’s Priority
Earlier today, ExWHUEmployee revealed that Boiro had emerged as West Ham’s main left-back target, with talks centred around a season-long loan containing an option to buy.
The 24-year-old Athletic Club defender has been targeted as the replacement for El Hadji Malick Diouf following his £40million move to Brentford.
That position had become one of the biggest remaining holes in Nuno Espírito Santo’s squad, with West Ham scrambling to complete their remaining business on Deadline Day.
Reports from Spain also indicated that Boiro missed Athletic training earlier today as negotiations developed, while West Ham were said to have moved to the front of the queue for his signature.
It had looked increasingly likely that West Ham would finish the window without signing a specialist left-back.
That would have been a significant gamble given the obvious hole left by Diouf’s departure.
But this one isn’t dead yet.
If West Ham submitted the necessary paperwork before 11pm, Nils Koppen and his recruitment team still have time to get the Boiro deal over the line.
Deadline Day has gone into extra time.
Nuno loves his Adamas lol
The crucial update is that Athletic Club themselves have now officially announced the deal. They say Boiro is joining West Ham on loan until the end of the season, with West Ham having an option to buy him. He is already in London to complete the signing.
Even more importantly, Sky Sports’ live transfer/deadline-day page now lists the deal:
West Ham vs Wolves: Adama Boiro – Athletic Club to West Ham
So this isn’t merely a journalist saying it’s done — Sky has it in its confirmed deals list as well.
Have just read a post online from Athletic Bilbao staying that the loan move has gone through ⚒️
Done! Announced on Athletic’s website.

It was reported that he didn’t get on the plane.
If this is correct does this not indicate he wasn’t sufficiently interested?
Also after tonight’s game need somebody to be able to give Bowen a rest.
He looked slow and can’t imagine that he can play every game.
This league is going to be testing in a way that premier league isn’t.
