Ben Chorley remains involved in the recruitment team at West Ham, Claret & Hugh was told this morning.
It was C&H who broke the story that Chorley had been drafted in to help Nils Koppen navigate his first transfer window in English football.
Chorley was recruited on a short-term contract to advise on the recruitment of Championship players and provide some much-needed knowledge of the division.
However, with West Ham seemingly not pursuing targets from the second tier, we asked our source whether the 43-year-old was still helping with recruitment.
“Ben is still at the club and his contract runs until the end of the transfer window.”
Chorley Still Available To Help Koppen
Whether that means the former Southampton head of scouting will have any further input has not been confirmed.
But his continued presence could prove useful as the Hammers gear up for what promises to be a busy final period of the transfer window.
West Ham’s recruitment team certainly has plenty to do.
The failure to bring Axel Disasi back to the London Stadium has left the club searching for another centre-back, while the Hammers’ defensive problems during the opening Championship fixtures have only increased the urgency.
Nils Koppen now faces a crucial few days to strengthen a squad which still looks short in several areas.
Whether Chorley’s Championship knowledge is called upon again remains to be seen, but for now at least, he’s still part of the recruitment operation.

That’s a result based on everything we’ve done with his help. Not a single signing from the Football League. Absolute joke.
We need 4–5 players this week, and I suspect we’ll be lucky to get 1 or 2.
What’s his brief? Sell everyone of value apart from Bowen and then try an convince us supporters that there is no need to sell?
This approach is leaving us with a disjointed and depleted squad who look like they have never played together
Another complete waste of time and Money….That’s what we do
Wow I don’t see Koppen or Ben doing much what is the point we need quality not players who are just available.
I am concerned that another 3-4 possibly 5 players could be leaving, a real worry as we just can’t seem to get any players signed, we keep missing out, would love to know why. Nelson of Arsenal is cheap but injury prone. We have just shifted Fulkrug but still have Cornet sitting pretty just taking a weekly wage for doing nothing. Why would he want to move in n. If he stays we must give him a chance.
Things are looking pretty bleak for the fans. The signings we have brought in look good, all we need now is the rest of the players to step up.Mavranpanos, Bowen, Tatty, Scarles,Kilman. People knock Pablo but at least he puts 100% effort in, let’s hop it can rub off on some of the other players which are underperforming, they know who they are, so come on let’s see a bit of togetherness and get this promotion push on track.
The fans have backed you so it is time you started to pay them back and show them you care.
looks like his role is to advise the club in how to transform into a bang average championship team.
Doupf, Alverez and Tobido this week, as they stressed, no fire sale at this club.
Bowen should walk as well, they lied to us all..
