West Ham are set to break their record home attendance at the London Stadium in January when the capacity is finally raised to 60,000.
The current record was set on 2nd January 2017 when 56,996 tickets were sold to watch West Ham take on Manchester United at the former Olympic Stadium.
Before that, the record home attendance at the Boleyn Ground was 35,550, recorded against Manchester City on 21st September 2002.
West Ham announced that the safety certificate to increase capacity at the London Stadium has been approved ready for West Ham v Brighton game on 2nd January, one year to the day after setting their last record home attendance.
West Ham has agreed to pay London Stadium owners E20 Stadium LLP another £250,000 per year to increase their capacity to 60,000 in an out of court settlement. The increase will take the Hammers rent to around £3.25m per year next year when index-linked and other current add-0ns are included with West Ham paying around £83 per year for each of the extra 3000 seats.
