All quiet on the Western Front as far as West Ham are concerned, which, when it comes to transfers, is probably no bad thing.
After all, with the club pledging to keep as many key players as possible, and a Director of Football seemingly awaiting a work permit, things may be moving slowly.
However, when it comes to the rest of the coaching operation, the lack of any appointments is a little troubling.
Whilst it’s indeed advantageous to keep potential transfer targets in-house, it doesn’t explain the lack of movement regarding Nuno Espírito Santo’s back-room team.
Still Waiting On Paco
Last week we heard that Paco Jémez was still weighing up his options over whether to return as Nuno’s assistant.
Paco is not shy when it comes to updating his social media, and there appears to be some desire on his part to find a role as a head coach rather than acting as a number two.
Then there is the issue of Nuno’s wider backroom staff.
Last season he relied heavily on help from academy coaches, but it was always understood they would return to their youth roles while Espírito Santo assembled a more experienced coaching team.
Perhaps Nuno is just waiting for the thumbs-up from Paco before finalising his choices. But that wouldn’t stop him from bulking out his staff with coaches who he’d worked with previously.
Either way, with pre-season training due to begin soon and the start of the campaign 6 weeks away. One would hope to see a flurry of appointments sooner rather than later.

We’ve still got the existing staff who can run the early pre-season work haven’t we?
I’d rather we wait a bit, if that’s what it takes, to get the right people.
