West Ham ticket revenue losses could reach £35m

West Ham could lose another £25m in ticket revenue for the 2020/2021 Premier League season on top £1om already lost this season.

Premier League clubs are unlikley to have any supporters present in September meaning the first four games of the season are likely to play behind closed doors. When supporters do return as early as October capacities could reduce as low as forty per cent of normal capacity meaning London Stadium crowds of around 24,000.

With season ticket money at around £23.5m per season and general ticket sales of £3.5m more, each game is worth around £1.42m per home game. Corporate Hospitality in Club London is said to be worth £12m per season or around £631,579 per home game at the London Stadium.

The Hammers are thought to have lost over £2m per game this season totalling £10m in refunds after playing their five remaining home games without supporters.

West Ham could lose a further £4m from playing their first two home game of next season behind closed doors.

If the Hammers were forced to play the remainder of next season at 40% capacity they could lose a further £21m bringing ticket revenue losses to £25m over £35m over the two Premier League seasons.

Even if normal football stadium capacities return next year in January losses could still amount to £11.5m assuming two home games played behind closed doors in September and six home games played at the London Stadium between October to December at 40% capacity.

Here we go, the ground work for the inevitable “we have no money for transfers” whereas all those around us are buying. No pushing for European football for the foreseeable future.

This is a piece written on factual data (everyone will be in the same boat) and not put out by the club so isn’t setting the tone and who is buying around us? The window hasn’t even opened yet and Silly season is bad enough without us making ourselves more depressed before we know whats happening. Lets wait and see shall we, we have just signed the best midfielder in the Prem since lockdown resumed at an absolute bargain price so lets be thankful for that before the doom and gloom.
