West Ham manager Graham Potter may be getting cold feet in his pursuit of Lille striker Jonathan David.

The Canadian forward is available on a free transfer this summer and can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside France NOW!

The Hammers have seen their chances of landing David increase drastically during the past month. West Ham had been at the bottom of the list of destinations for the 25 year old but recent developments have seen the front runners drop out of the transfer race.

As a result, it is believed the striker had whittled his choice of clubs to three and West Ham are in the mix. However, C&H have learnt today that manager Graham Potter is stalling on a final push for the player as he looks for a more traditional number 9.

Whether the teams improvement since Niclas Fullkrug’s tentative return from injury has played any part is unknown. However, there appear to be uncertainties at the club as to whether spending big on David is really what the Hammers need.

It is believed David will cost any buying club close to £50m once signing bonuses, agents fees and wages are factored in, so this is anything but a free transfer.

If his ambitions are all about money for himself and his agent, then we need freezing feet and must avoid at all costs. OK to have an interest. Looking doesn’t cost. The contract is the big decision. If it is all about money – 5 year contract – 4 years sick and then amazing last 12 months to draw in the next mugs.

What a poor get out excuse.
This is just to try and smooth over all the hyper that he was ever coming.
If it gets to the position where sufficient clubs drop out perhaps David will end up working at Tesco’s.
Then whu can pick him up for a BARGAIN price and collect bucket load of club card points.

Having seen him play for Canada on several occasions, I am not convinced he would be suitable and would take time to settle into the physicalityand pace of the Premier League IMHO.

This is laughable…very little chance of getting him..because why would he come to us .

And if this is true and we have a real chance to get a top quality forward..all of a sudden Potter gets cold feet 🤣🤣🤣🤣 that means shit we never thought this would happen but now there’s a chance…its 50 million how can we get out of this …🤣🤣🤣come on that’s crazy…the last 2 months have been all over this player saying it would be an unbelievable signing..and how good he is

Now David has said maybe west ham they shit themselves. That’s a prime example of the board with phantom bids for top tier players then one coukd happen and they panic 🤣🤣…that’s funny if Potter has said that …

Why would David come to a relegation threatened club not in European competition . The deal that he and his agent wants is 25 million signing on fee and agent fee plus 40 million over 5 years which is 65 million ( If he’s transfered for big money the math changes ) . David has to score 65 goals for 1 million per goal and so 130 goals for 1/2 million per goal . He’s never going to score 26 goals per season for Westham . He’s cost prohibitive for Westham unless he’s transfered before the end of his contract. .
