A place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup awaits the victors of tonight’s West Ham vs Fulham clash, which sees two sides separated by just three league places – and one division – compete at the London Stadium.
West Ham go in to the cup tie this evening unbeaten in the last six games, with a 4-1 win at St Marys in August carrying them into this third round tie. Nuno rotated his side and introduced six former academy players into the starting line up and the youngsters did themselves proud with Josh Ajala’s strike double the highlight of the game against Southampton.
The belief is that the West Ham boss will send out a side with a similar youthful look to it with the League tie against Millwall just around the corner.
No extra time, no replays, no VAR (hooray) remember, just 90 minutes and penalties.
1830 hrs and the starting XI has been released:
West Ham United
Herrick | Walker Peters, Mavropanos, Kilman, Morato | Mukasa, Orford, Engels, Kante | Pablo, Ajala
Interestingly there’s also a squad recall for Soungoutou Magassa…
Well have player ratings and first impressions articles right after the final whistle – remember, no extra time tonight – so check back later!
Pablo breaks the seal. Great news.
I am interested to see how West Ham deal with Muniz and Smith Rowe.
Why no Austbø? Has he annoyed Nuno?
No obvious width in the team are Lamadrid and Austbo both injured?
What happened to Areola? Did he die? Bizarre how he has quietly slipped away. What was the point in signing Boiro? Unless he’s injured it’s starting to seem like a pointless signing
Not our strongest eleven, but I doubt Fulham will put out their strongest eleven either.
Bench… Hermansen, Scarles, Mayers, Golambeckis, Magassa, Bowen, Solomon, Taty, Piroe.
The cavalry are there if needed, no Austvo ?
… no Boiro either, would have thought these were the games to try both of them out.
The Venezuelan lad will be disappointed not to be innthe squad, but at least Alvarez should get a run out playing for Mexico
