West Ham are yet to receive a single permanent offer for Jean-Clair Todibo, despite the defender’s availability being common knowledge throughout the transfer market.
The French centre-back had a falling out with manager Nuno Espírito Santo last season, and it is fair to say neither party is willing to work with the other for the Hammers’ promotion push back to the Premier League.
Todibo was prematurely subbed following a tactical mistake by Nuno in the penultimate game of the season, then dropped from the squad altogether for the final fixture against Leeds United, as West Ham tumbled out of the top flight.
Having signed the former Barcelona centre-back for £35 million from Nice, it is fair to say West Ham were hopeful of at least clawing some of that outlay back, although there was a realisation they were unlikely to get anywhere near the fee paid for him.
Only One Loan Offer
However, when Claret & Hugh spoke exclusively to a well-known football agent earlier today, he revealed West Ham had only received one loan offer for the player.
“Everyone knows he doesn’t get on with the manager, he wants to leave, but there has only been one loan offer.”
West Ham are actively looking to sell the 26-year-old, who ironically produced some of his best form in a West Ham shirt under Nuno, up until the point he was sent off following a brawl at Stamford Bridge.
That match resulted in a 3-2 defeat for West Ham, in a game where the Hammers had earlier looked very comfortable.
Todibo Not Seen As A Key Player To Keep
It would also be fair to say Todibo is not considered one of the key players West Ham are looking to retain.
Hanging on to Konstantinos Mavropanos is a far bigger priority, but the club will not want to lose the opportunity to bring in over £20 million for Todibo, despite the fact that would still represent a huge loss.
Unfortunately, the reality of the situation is that the player has failed to live up to his initial price tag. Having now fallen out with Julen Lopetegui, Graham Potter and Nuno Espírito Santo, Todibo has gained something of a reputation which is not massively conducive to securing a big-money transfer.
If you were a buying club, given his attitude and knowing Nuno wants him gone, it makes no sense to show any interest until late in the window.
that’s because he’s rubbish and has an big ego
fallen out with every manager, another player worth 15m who we paid 35m, there’s so many of them.
Him and Kilman, another 40m waste are the reason we shipped so many goals ..
