One of the West Ham transfer stories that seems to show no sign of relenting is the return of last season’s epically successful loanee, Axel Disasi.

On the surface, this looks like a most preposterous piece of transfer tattle-tattle, which will have little or no chance of happening.

After all, the Frenchman was purchased by Chelsea for just over £35 million, and whilst he has appeared to be surplus to requirements in West London, his six-month stint at the London Stadium will have at least ring-fenced his valuation to Chelsea and alerted other interested parties who perhaps might have discounted him following his less successful loan spell at Aston Villa.

Why the rumours refuse to disappear

Despite everything pointing towards Championship West Ham having no chance of re-signing the centre-back who is very much Premier League level, multiple news outlets continue to report a deal.

The general consensus appears to be that Disasi is available for £25 million, that West Ham are interested, that Chelsea would sell, and that whilst the Frenchman would prefer to play at a higher level, he has not dismissed West Ham’s offer out of hand.

Wishful thinking? Maybe.

But until he rules it out, I guess it will be a story that will continue to run.

Promotion plans require Premier League quality

After all, West Ham’s promotion plan must very much contain provision for assembling or keeping a squad that can remain in the Premier League if promotion is achieved.

Keeping the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Taty Castellanos, and Tomas Soucek would certainly go some way to achieving that goal.

But keeping Axel Disasi in East London would mean the Hammers boasting a formidable central defensive partnership, not just for now but for the future too.

No other team has gone in for him, which in itself seems odd as he played quite well. I don’t think he is a £25m defender and would put him at £15m

Chelsea have tried to shift him and can’t so we are in the box seat, otherwise he remains in their bomb squad for more time costing them money.

Let’s get Disasi! Having him join Mavropanos as central defenders is the first strong step towards promotion.

It won’t go away because amount of fans wishing this to materialises.
A bit unconventional but if Mavro is staying how about him making contact.
This partnership worked well and would elevate back line problems still need cover for injuries/suspensions.
Without tying up to much cash how about loan to buy (£25m).
Whu bailed Disarsi out of the bomb squad but would he play in championship for a year, needs to be asked.
Yes we was a last resort but that could happen again might mean leaving it to end of transfer seaso.

I understand Chelsea are interested in Somerville so surely a deal could be done concerning Disasi, Somerville is going whatever happens so why not try and do a deal with Chelsea.
