Premier League Champions Arsenal are considering one of West Ham’s key players

AT a crucial time in West Ham’s summer there’s new evidence this afternoon that the Hammers may find one of their ‘key players’ tempted to grab a return to the Premier League, ironically to one of his own previous sides.

If true, it will be difficult for West Ham to resist the lure of champions Arsenal who, it is claimed, are looking to east London to strengthen their back line. As per the report by sportsview.co.uk

“Arsenal are interested in signing West Ham defender Konstantinos Mavropanos according to sky sports”

“Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants quality depth at the Emirates and the North London club could look to sign the former Gunners player. The 6ft 4in Mavropanos played seven Premier League games for the club after joining from PAS Giannina in 2018.

He left in 2020 on loan for VfB Stuttgart before a permanent departure in 2022. The West Ham star could now be rejoining the North Londoners despite the Gunners having William Saliba, Jurrien Timber, Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White as right-footed centre-back options.”

Which would be frankly, a bit of a disaster for Daniel Kretinsky’s new-era West Ham and the desire to keep the best part of last season’s squad in place.

Dino Mavropanos puts in a crunching tackle

Mavropanos stepped up his performances last year – and he’s not gone un noticed.

You couldn’t blame the player – who would be in a position to turn down a move to the Premier League champions? Certainly not the Greek centre back who looked the business lat times last season after shaky performances beforehand.

To be fair though, delving deeper into the original Sky report it is claimed that:

Arsenal are admirers of Mavropanos and have an interest in their former player, but it should be noted they currently have William Saliba, Cristhian Mosquera and Ben White as right-footed centre-halves in the squad. “..

Which is not quite so alarming as Sportsview’s take. Hopefully Arsenal’s “interest” doesn’t coalesce into something more serious.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Disastrous i don’t think so he was terrible until Disasi came in and now he’s gone who knows what he’ll be like.

Even if it’s true, there’s no point worrying about it. And there are as many, if not more, rumours about players that we might be in for. All that matters is the squad we have when the window closes.
