£11m + Jarvis bid for Charlie Austin

|

austinThis morning, the Sunday Mirror are reporting that West Ham are preparing a £11m cash plus Matt Jarvis in part exchange to buy Charlie Austin from QPR to solve their striker crisis.

The inform striker is valued at £15million by QPR and director of football Les Ferdinand is insisting they will accept nothing less than that.

Matt Jarvis has just one year left on his contract and would fetch close to £4m according to the Mirror.

A late bid by Queens Park Rangers to sign West Ham winger Matt Jarvis on loan fell through due to Premier League rules in the January transfer window. Charlie Austin scored 18 goals in a struggling QPR side last season.

Sorry I am totally lost with this report, we have lost our two players with pace and we want to replace them with a striker who has no pace. We have Carroll and Sakho. We do need a striker and I believe Austin is a decent player but not at 11m with Jarvis, we need pace in the team i.e. two wingers. Now Jarvis will be sold along with Downing and Valencia. Spend our money on a frontman with pace, someone who can play wide too. This is certainly not Austin. .

No we need someone who knows how to put a ball in the back of the net, we create more then enough chances at the moment now we have Payet and we’re playing the ball on the floor, Lanzini will add more pace even Noble and Kouyate are being a bit more creative now, just the last important bit we are struggling with. I’d welcome Austin with open arms and wave Jarvis goodbye with a smile

The problem with Jarvis is both his technical ability(or incapibility) and confidence.
He was out of the team for much of last season.
Once reputed as the best crossing player in EPL, now he still has pace, willing to go forward, but no end product. If we can get him back on track, I’m fine to keep him. If not, he needs to be moved on and if we can get Austin with player+$$$ deal, it could be an ideal deal.
Afterall, Jarvis is already 29, and only 1 yr left with contract, he could leave with no resale value anyway.

Bloody hell johnham, did you wake up with a hangover this morning, lol, you grumpy sod.Im yet to see us buy or try to buy a player this summer that you aint grumbled about i think, lol 😉

It’s alright having pace but it’s proved this year just keep banging balls in the area is no good if you don’t have a player on the the end of it to put it in the net,
With the new players we have and our full backs giving us width, the wingers are not so important,Zarate,Magia,Alfitan,Kouyate and Noble look more confident playing alongside Payet and Samulsun with the ball on the ground, which has given us a even stronger side,
If Austin arrives and Jimanez we should be well set and if it’s correct Song is going to sign and another right back we should have a dream squad compared to last year.

So a newspaper journalist knows that WH are preparing a bid of £11m plus Jarvis for Austin. I wonder how we are preparing it? do you think we are maybe gift wrapping the offer and waiting for the typist to turn up so that an address is written on it?

These journalists are so clever they must be psychic…

  • Michael Miller says:

Charlie Austin would be ideal – if we can offload Jarvis at the same time so much the better – can’t they lob in Kevin Nolan as a freebie!

  • danielson79 says:

I prefer hernandez tbh. We need a player with the speed and confidence to just run at defenders and put it away. If we can get Zarate buzzing and doing more of what he did on thursday night then he could ve that man for us, and it does seem like the team is being built to suit Austins style so he would be the better option. We should take a punt on raphael for right back and mirallas in midfield but that is a big spend.

  • Usain Nolan says:

Well if we can get him for 11m+ jarvis thats good.I would rather that than be offering 14m for Jordan Rhodes like Boro are supposedly doing. That is ridiculous money for him 😉

  • wazza says:

Austin would be great, I’ve said that all along but if we were to get Hernandez from manure instead I wouldn’t be unhappy…

  • SA Bubbles says:

Even tho I wanted young Elliot Lee to step up to the first team this year to see what the lad could do, with the injures we already got Charlie Austin would be a fantastic player to have in our team. PS I really hope they do away with the Jan Transfer window. That will at least give some youth players a chance .
