West Ham’s new deal with Michail Antonio means the player looks likely to end his career – or very close to it – at the London Stadium.

It emerged shortly after the announcement was made that the new Hammer of the Year had agreed what is effectively a six year contract rather than four.

During the prolonged but cordial negotiations Michail agree that the club should include a two year option in its own favour with in the deal and that means the Hammers can keep the brilliant utility man on board until he is 33.

Commenting on the deal co chairman David Gold said: “It’s a great deal for the player and the club and we are all delighted. He’s a terrific lad on and off the pitch and a genuinely bubbly character around the dressing room.

“We have seen both side show their commitment to each other at the end of a difficult season and it’s a very pleasing conclusion to the negotiations.”

  1. Well that’s ruined the day for all the gloom and doom and glass half full merchants. Nothing to be self righteous and outraged over. Never mind, another bad news opportunity will be along soon. COY XI
