Defoe’s phone home ET hint?

|

etJermain Defoe appears to have found a novel way of suggesting a move back to West Ham may be very much on his mind.

Wearing  huge smile in an Instagram pic the former Hammer and Sunderland front man posted an image of himself and a model of ET in the famous bicycle scene of the 1982 sci-fi film.

Accompanied with the caption: ‘E.t phone home #funday,’ Sunderland’s star was a picture of delight alongside a model of the fictional character as he posed on the bike against a background of the moon.

For our younger readers who may not be familiar with the movie the most famous line is “ET phone home” and Defoe’s decision to be pictured alongside the model may be telling us quite a lot.

However, it looks unlikely he’s be phoning or returning with Black Cats boss David Moyes saying: “‘Jermain is priceless because his goals are so important for us and what is at stake.

‘That is why when you think of the figure that was bid, you go “hmm.” Everton bid for a boy at Charlton and West Ham bid £10.5m for a striker at Brentford.

‘You see values like that and then you look at Jermain’s level and where he is in our ambition to stay up. It’s hard to get good forwards with experience and he is a player who is scoring regularly.’
