Leroy: Man United is the perfect opportunity

|

leroylogoI’ll take the point now if it’s offered but I want more.

Manchester United may have hit prime form but this is the perfect opportunity for the Irons to bury that London Stadium “bogey”  if that’s what you want to call it.

The result at Leicester City was disappointing but I have nothing but praise for the intensity of the performance in the second half and we will have to show all of that and more today.

There is no question we are getting better – whether we can step up sufficiently to take the points is another question with United likely to have their best team out.

But when you have a busy holiday weekend it’s always nice to have slept in your own bed and the lads will be refreshed and confident after the recent run whilst United will have had to travel and that may not be ideal at this time of the year.

I don’t believe I have ever seen Andy Carroll looking fitter and stronger. He needs better service from the sides but that will come and let’s hope today’s the day.

He is capable of unsettling any  defence with the right sort of delivery coming his way and if we can get ourselves psychologically right before our own fans today then anything is possible.

I don’t believe there’s any problem at all with the London Stadium but the game is often played 80 per cent between the ears and as I said today is an ideal opportunity to get rid of any mental blocks.

I will go for the draw –  1-1 – but really do believe we can win it if we are really at it.
