Leroy Rosenior believes David Sullivan will be regretting his Charlie Austin comments declaring: “He’d have been better off simply leaving it at the fact we can’t afford the £15 million!”
And the popular former Iron said: “I have to say I as pretty amazed when I read the remarks. There’s nothing wrong in saying he’s too expensive and you can get away with explaining he’s had a failed medical.
“But the rest of it was all a bit questionable and it’s really no surprise there’s been a row break out over it.”
Leroy’s own playing days ended in his late 20s with a degenerative knee injury and he played in pain for much of his career with the final five years being “absolute agony”.
He said: “I don’t think anybody outside of a few will know about any injury problems to particular players, and it’s really best not to go there if there’s any uncertainty.
“David is known as a man who says what he thinks. But I reckon if he could go back he wouldn’t go near the subject again. It’s all best forgotten I think.”
