West Ham Injury Update

Kouyate

On the day of the first leg of the Betway Cup in Germany and just two weeks away from the start of the Premier League against Manchester United at Old Trafford, we look at the Hammers injury situation as it stands.

Cheikhou Kouyate picked up a freak’ knee injury in Austria, he is back in rehab and not expected to play for West Ham in August. Bilic said: “It is a big shame that Cheikhou got injured in one of our early training sessions and it was out of nothing. He did his knee and he is going to miss the first few games of the season. It was a freak injury and it is a blow for us. He doesn’t need surgery and the injury is not a bad one, but he needs rehab now.”

antonio2707abcMichail Antonio is back at rush green working on his recovery from hamstring surgery in May. He will miss the first game or two of the season but is expected back for West Ham’s first home game. Bilic says on Antonio “He [Antonio] is ahead of the plan. The plan is for him to miss the first game of the season.”

Andy Carroll is back at Rush Green working on rehab. No return date as yet is known at this point by medical staff. Bilic says:  “Andy is still not able to train with the team but he is working hard at Rush Green with the physios.I am frustrated he cannot play, now he is still injured and it is a big loss for us.”

CarrollSofiane Feghouli has allegedly picked up a muscle injury in training in Germany and is not currently available for selection. Speculation continues on his departure and he is said to have left Germany for treatment but many remain wary of his convenient injury.

Winston Reid will soon return to full training. He told WHUFC.com yesterday “Hopefully in the next week or so I should be back, which we were sort of aiming for,” he revealed. “Generally, the rehab has been really good and the surgery has fixed the problem, which is the most important thing. I’ll be able to go out there and play pain-free, which is a blessing.

LanziniAngelo Ogbonna pulled up in training in Germany earlier this week and sat the rest of the day out but the knock is not thought to be serious and he should be available for selection sources close to club tell us.

Edimilson Fernandes picked up a small knock and missed the friendly against Fulham but he is said to have recovered and is now available for selection.

Manuel Lanzini picked up a knock in training in Germany and is doubtful with a knee injury. He is undergoing an assessment and won’t feature in the two legged Betway cup which will be a big miss.

Diafra Sakho has only just resumed training with the first team in Germany. Two days ago he said “Good news. Diafra Sakho should start training with the first team squad in the next day or so. Good luck Diafra. dg” He is unlikely to play in the Betway Cup today and tomorrow. It is hoped he will ready for action soon.

  1. Tut tut Bilic mentioning Kouyate needs REHAB
Reid saying his time in REHAB has been good
The author of this article mentioning them in REHAB
Law suits will be flying with the very mention of this dirty word.

    • I’ve instructed my lawyers. See you in court 😂😂

Can’t believe our injury ****e, it’s not like you can blame it on the medical team as they’re all new or Rush Green or Chadwell Heath because we are in Austria and the Fatherland. This is going to be a long season if our luck don’t change.

    • I was going to use the headline West Ham REHAB Update just to proved a point lol 😉

  2. Most worrying is Lanzini, hopefully the knock isn’t too bad, I guess it will show how we might fare without him.

    • Creatively I would say very poorly 32 😱 we don’t have no one else , only Samuelson comes to mind ? No kouyate no Antonio no sakho no pea no Reid no lanzini all the mentioned need game time now ffs? Every year is the same !! Bremen twice , man c then some other team then man u!!! Rushed back = disaster 😎😤

  3. Yes that word again. Saw this week that Djokovic the tennis player has also been at it & now needs several months of ‘rehab’. Absolutely unacceptable- how do they get away with it,

  4. Lol you aint going to get away from this one John.Maybe it will teach you to not come back from the pub on a mission to ruffle feathers 😂😂

    • I’m teetotal Rads I don’t drink. Actually that’s not true, but I do spill most of it. I still maintain it was a naughty headline but I’m not one to flog a dead horse. Talking of dead horses…

Carroll reminds me of a fast bowler on a flat track in cricket. They dont fancy it so they pull a sickie for the rest of the innings.

  6. Blimey the thought of Carroll as a fast bowler. He would never get through one over let alone a day’s bowling.

  7. More a spinner 😂 coming slowly over the wicket supping a pims 😉
