Transfer news: Irons midfielder target joins Burnley

|

bartonBurnley have pipped West Ham to the post after securing Joey Barton’s signature on a one-year deal this evening.

The Clarets, relegated from the Premier League last season, are showing plenty of ambition in their quest to get back into the top flight, and free-agent Barton’s signing will boost their chances considerably.

Now 32, the former QPR midfielder has been in demand by other Premier League and Championship sides after the Irons scrapped advanced plans to sign Barton last week.

West Ham are thought to have performed a major U-turn following Kevin Nolan’s departure – but by the time they had decided to bring their bid to life again, Barton was already having a medical in Lancashire. It appears it is too little, too late on this one!

Maybe if the board wanted him so much they shouldnt have bleedin turned him down two weeks ago. What do they expect, bunch of planks.

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Probably went to Burnley because they offered him a proper contract.

  • rugbyirons says:

So basically Nolans influence has cost us again.

    • GW says:

Christ mate I’m a critic of the so called captain fantastic but you take it to the next level lol… The bigger thing is we’re now competing with teams like Burnley for players yet others are competing with premier league clubs pretty ****ing ridiculous.. No doubt Nolan will return after our bid of 2 million for 70 million rated Pogba is turned down

Are you serious…..how do you work that out. Get off the guys back, He’s gone.

      • Radai Lama says:

Rugby bases it on the fact that Nolan was supposedly vocal in not wanting Barton.True or not it is one final stick to beat Nolegs with as far as Rugby is concerned, lol 😉

        • Hammerman6 says:

Oh! I had not heard that, but, if He did, He was probably voicing a general opinion anyway.
          Cheers Radai

        • GW says:

Rads from Rugby’s perspective Nolan instigated the start of WW2, shot JFK and was the real reason for the Greek monetary crisis..

          • Radai Lama says:

Lol,well at least now Rugby can use his freetime exclusively for Brady hating. He can get stuck into her without having to worry about slagging Nolan as well 😀

  • bubs says:

Good I think we dodged a bullet,
He must like the colour of the shirts

  • canchaz says:

I think, now there is virtually no chance of us signing anyone and fitting them Into the team for Sat. everyone, including the powers that be, should step back and take a deep breath.
With just this game before a two week break, which will bring Carroll and Zarate to the brink of returning for Newcastle, if not fully ready, the constant clamour to sign another striker could drop considerably . Certainly, the pressure to sign anyone, regardless, is likely to fade.
If we do pick someone up, I hope it now will be a shrewd buy not a panic buy that comes at an over the top price and that we’ll live to regret.

  • bubs says:

You got it in one canchaz,
That’s what the owners are hoping for Sakho to be fit Magia on the bench ( no chance now ) but they will use Lee,
Then tell us with Zarate and Carroll we are top heavy on forwards,
We need the list of players without contracts fast,

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

So long as we don’t sign Allesandro Matri, looks an awful player from what I have seen, on youtube this is posted as his best performance, having viewed a few others i can understand why https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xsVmIFplzw

    • Radai Lama says:

Well i saw that he will probably be joining us tomorrow. The geezers has been on loan at Fiorentina,Genoa & Juve & couldnt get in any of their teams regularly but he is good enough for us apparently.Unbelievable.Not only cant he not get into AC Milans first team but he couldnt get into the teams that he went on loan to either.I give up 😀

  • Dunlopilo says:

You see, Nene should have stayed after all. He really gave the impression of high quality and intelligent player. Would have taken some of the current squad to a higher level. But we had to keep Jarvis instead of him, when Jarvis will be history in 1 year and Nene still has 2-3 years of football in him…

  • Roman says:

According to Football 365 we won’t be getting Zaza either after a change of heart by Juventus.Last I read we are chasing a 32 yr old Italian striker.I can feel the desperation from here.
