£15m central defender reveals Hammers interest

|

West Ham appear to have been disappointed following a scouting trip to the Greek derby between Olympiacos and AEK on Sunday that reported target, central defender Pape Abou Cissé was not involved.

The player has revealed  there was interest from ourselves and it was thought he would be included but didn’t appear in the squad.

There have been reports to that among the other clubs represented at the match were Norwich, Watford Lyon and  St. Etienne, although it’s not clear who was at the centre of their attentions.

Cisse, meanwhile, let the cat out of the bag of Hammers interest in a report given to Le Quotidien.

He has revealed the Irons and Arsenal were keen and with ManuelPellegrini keen to find another central defender it’s not impossible to think that if the Hammers can raise cash through sales this winter Cisse might even be on board for the second half of the season.

He explained: “Arsenal had not made an offer. The coach was interested, and there were discussions.

“There were other English clubs: West Ham, Wolverhampton. In France, there was Rennes, Monaco. But hey, I’m still in contract with Olympiakos. “I dream of playing in the Premier League,” he added.

“The German championship tempts me a lot, return to France too, where I made my professional debut. But I have a preference for England.”
