On the face of it, pundit Aaron McLean is particularly well qualified to launch his own somewhat surprising yet impassioned plea to West Ham fans to stick with their boss Nuno Espírito Santo.
The former EFL striker boasts a CV as long as most players’ wedding guest lists : Leyton Orient, Grays Athletic, Aldershot Town, Peterborough United, Hull City, Ipswich Town, Birmingham City, Bradford City, Barnet, and Ebbsfleet United.. over 500 league appearances surely qualify him to know one end of the league from the other.
Quoted in footballleagueworld.co.uk today, Mclean is vocal in cautioning West Ham against repeating the David Moyes mistake by calling for Nuno’s sacking:
“Aaron McLean issues passionate Nuno Espirito Santo defence amid David Moyes, West Ham United warning“
With all due respect, he’s somewhat missing the point. All is quiet on the Nuno front for now.

Graham Potter – one of four West Ham managers in three years: Irons fans have learned their lesson in simply demanding ‘change for change’s sake’. ……Look what we ended up with.
There’s simply zero appetite for a fourth manager within three years at West Ham and it was that constant churn – along with the identity and ineptitude of the first two who followed Moyes – which put the club into its relegation nosedive in the first place.
The unrest at West Ham over the performance of their manager (who presided over relegation, let us not forget) was only vocalised with the Hammers sitting nineteenth in the division and Nuno seemingly ‘respecting the point’ of another in a series of draws.
The penny seems to have dropped with the head coach since, and the Irons have been restored to an automatic promotion-winning second place from which, truthfully, they should not be dislodged with the best squad in the division and the highest paid manager in the league.
I’d wager there is more threat of Nuno being poached for the soon-to-be-vacant Crystal Palace manager’s job than there is of Kretinsky’s new-look board firing their head coach who is deemed a safe pair of hands in this division.
It wasn’t just when we were 19th that fans were calling for Nuno to be replaced, it was as recently as the draws with Millwall and QPR and even now from some people on here
