24 hours on players and Pelle rated at Palace

|

Hugh hands out his belated marks after giving himself 24 hours to think it all through LOL

Roberto: Tested early with three crosses and cleared them all decisively with a punch which ain’t ideal but performed well in general terms and made a couple of decent saves 6.5

Zaba: Unlucky to be called up for this game with Zaha working his magic but he did ok for long stretches whilst getting skinned on a couple of others 5.5

Balbuena: Turned inside out for Ayew’s goal – why didn’t he just bring him down outside the box where it started? Not great in real terms 4

Ogbonna: Excellent as usual and ridiculous that Noble should turn rotweiller on him. Well played Oggy 6.5

Cresswell: Nothing to offer much at front or back – can see him being rested tomorrow 4

Noble: Carthorse level at times interspersed with some decent passing 5

Rice: Not at his usual level and too often being left to cover acres of space 5.5

Fornals: Ok he’s getting better but is this really a £25 million player – subbed at half time 5

Snodgrass: Terrific goal but beyond that next to nothing to offer 4

Antonio: Great assist for the goal, plenty of energy and effort – at least he really tries 7

Haller: Went AWOL far too often. He’s a difficult one to work out – inconsistent 5

Subs:

Anderson: Not much flair but most passes found their target 6

Lanzini: Oh God please show us the old sparkle mate 4

Ajeti: Is this guy actually a footballer or what

Pellegrini: Not many would have been able to argue at the start. He played two up, was forced to use Roberto, and beyond, Zaba stuck with the players who had got the result at Saints. But the lack of concentration from his players, and his less than impressive options from the bench -his buys by and large, plus the his dreamy inactivity in the dug out is depressing and worrying notably when things go wrong. 4

All three of the guys off the bench did virtually nothing – very disappointing? 🤨

Add to that Haller going back into his shell, and both Noble and Snoddy having bad days at the office – it was not what was required! 😳

I don’t agree, Fornals was alongside Antonio probably our most effective player and how is Ajeti supposed to influence a game when he’s brought on in the 91st minute? The only person worthy of a zero is the so called Mr West Ham. Noble was a disgrace. A club Captain responding like that to one of our best players over the season and after his own shocking performance was a disgrace . The sooner we have a manager strong enough to drop that donkey the better. Being a captain of West Ham is more than kissing the badge and speaking with a cockney accent. Not only does it appear the manager has lost the dressing room, it appears our captain is doing his best to lose it too. He seems more interested in playing practical jokes than he does in improving his own game. We have never replaced Kevin Nolan as captain. Someone who could lead, someone with real ability.
The lack of pace of Noble, Zaballeta and Snodgrass leaves us wide open, add to that the clown in goal and the lack of a decent left back at the club we’ll always concede.
This club needs a complete overhaul, that includes Manager, recruitment, training staff and captain.

Will we get the chance to do our own ratings for this match, Hugh? ..

  • AD says:

Think pretty fair reflection Hugh, no idea why Snodgrass got a 7 from your other pundit, other than the goal he was poor…

  • Jimbo44 says:

    Hugh
Should we try Diop alongside Rice ,?

  • Bubbles68 says:

Bring in Scott Parker – take a risk now.

  • Golfeater says:

Even noting the managers lack of excitement or commitment the players should have there own pride to play for .
Maybe some of them don’t like it in London and want to get. away.the next manager needs to sort out who to keep/offload ASAP
