David Moyes’ future at West Ham is likely to be determined this summer when he sits down with the club’s owners. After delivering the Hammers a European trophy last season, the Scotsman will go down as one of the club’s most successful managers.

However, results and performances have not been great in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, which is why the Hammers’ board is considering other options. Here is a look at three names who will surely be in the mix should a change be made.

Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel is set to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. There aren’t many current managers in the game with a better CV than the German. He has won the Champions League, Super Cup, Club World Cup, Bundesliga and Ligue 1.

Tuchel’s focus right now will be on winning another major European trophy before he departs Munich. His side are 13/5 in the betting on Champions League to win the premier European competition.

In the Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid betting, the German giants are 29/20 to qualify for the final at Wembley. If Tuchel’s side can get past the Spanish club, they will fancy their chance of lifting the trophy.

Tuchel knows all about Premier League football in London. He managed Chelsea for 100 games between 2021 and 2022. The other bonus about the current Bayern boss is that he is a free agent this summer, so West Ham would not have to pay a fee to get him out of his current contract.

Julen Lopetegui

Some reports suggest West Ham have already spoken to Julen Lopetegui about the possibility of him picking up the reins at the London Stadium this summer. The Spaniard was last in the dugout at Wolves earlier this season, but he resigned following a dispute about the transfer budget available to him.

Lopetegui has overseen some of the biggest jobs in football. He has managed Spain, Real Madrid and Sevilla. The 57-year-old won the Europa League with the latter in 2020 when his side defeated Inter Milan in the final.

West Ham could be involved in a fight with AC Milan to secure Lopetegui should they decide he is the best man for the job. The Italian club is thought to be very keen on signing the experienced head coach.

Ruben Amorim

Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim has been linked with several managerial positions over the last few months, including Liverpool and West Ham. He was pictured flying to London ahead of talks with the Hammers recently.

Amorim has since released a statement apologising to Sporting Lisbon fans for his conduct and announcing now is not the right time for him to leave the Portuguese club. That could suggest talks between the two parties did not go well.

The 39-year-old has been praised for the style of football he encourages in Portugal. That is something that would appeal to the West Ham board, so another round of talks with the Primeira Liga Manager of the Year shouldn’t be ruled out.

For now, Moyes will be doing all he can to end the season on a high, especially if these games will be his last in charge of the Hammers.
