Moyes furious as Hammers ‘switch off’

|

David Moyes was left furious after the Hammers saw a point slip through their fingers at Old Trafford.

The Irons boss could only watch on in horror as Marcus Rashford scored with the last kick of the game on Saturday, having been played in at the back post by Edinson Cavani.

The England international seemed to simply ghost in at the back post before tapping the ball in and Moyes was left disappointed with the fact that the Irons switched off defensively, allowing Rashford to snatch all three points for Ralf Rangnick’s side.

The result means that United are now in the top four, leapfrogging the Irons, while they also have a game in hand.

In addition to last week’s defeat to Leeds, it has been a dismal week for the club and Moyes could not hide his disappointment in his post-match press conference.

Speaking to reporters, as transcribed by Football.London, he said: “We just completely switched off trying to see the game out in the last minute. Otherwise we defended well. Our attacking play was not at a good level.”

Asked about his instant reaction to the result, he added: “P****d off with that result, for sure.”

The root cause of switching off was Moyes’s decision to bring Fredericks on, he should stand up and accept he made the wrong call. Coufal is so solid defensively.

I’m guessing Moyes put on Fredericks to cope with the fresh legs and pace of Rashford. As weve seen In the past Coufal can’t cope with very pacy wingers.
