West Ham target Darwin Nunez remains a big target for the Hammers on deadline day after suffering a worrying injury last season and from which some sources claim is still troubling him.

The Benfica striker is currently in South America making it more difficult to do a deal than were he in Europe and has a £100 million release clause in his contract.

However, that shouldn’t be taken over seriously as they are generally included for insurance purposes .

However, he missed 89 days and six games last season with a knee injury which is unusual with a player in his early 20s.

In total he has missed 149 days during his career and has already had three weeks out with a foot and and  knee injury this term.

However, the Hammers are pressing on with the deal although given the circumstances £50 million seems a very high price for a player who has had such recent problems.

However badly we need a striker – and we do – we’ve signed enough crocks in the past to ensure that we need to do a thorough medical, if it ever reaches that stage. With regard to the fee agreed, a number of sources are quoting figures nearer to £30m. With regard to the logistics of securing the player today, it seems that Spurs may have a similar issue if the rumours suggesting that they are trying to sign Bentancur are true. He is also on international duty with Uruguay.

Why is it every player we are linked with costs fifty million?

Perfect for us then, we love to overpay for players with injuries 🤣🤣🤣

Looks like Nunez made his comeback after knee surgery in August but since then he’s been banging the goals in. Can’t see it happening now though.
