Cornet talks ongoing

By Dave Langton

West Ham are in talks with Burnley over a deal to sign Maxwel Cornet but no bid has yet been tabled for the wing-back.

A top source at the club has confirmed there is very real interest from the Irons in signing the Ivory Coast international.

Cornet was relegated with Burnley last season but scored nine goals for the club and he has a release clause of £17.5m embedded into his contract.

That has attracted interest from a number of clubs and The Guardian reports that Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, and Everton are also keen on striking a deal.

The Hammers want to sign Cornet and are continuing talks over finding an agreement but have yet to make an official offer.

They will continue over the next few days, with the Irons seemingly losing hope of striking a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt’s Filip Kostic.

The Irons have also had a bid accepted for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana as David Moyes looks to reshape his squad.

I hope we get him in. I’m a bit concerned with the chatter going on around Onana that says he prefers a move to Everton, lol surely not, has to be agents trying drum up some business

Another one we can’t get over the line because of salary, add him to Soucek’s new contract, Lingard, Zielinski, Onana probably Kostic

Will Cornet have number 99 on his back? Think we have payed his release clause of 17.5 million last I heard.
