Young defender “on edge” of first team call-up

|

LewisPage_3196765Young Lewis Page is “on the edge” of a first team squad call-up.

Sources have revealed to ClaretandHugh this morning that the 19 year old – having made a full return from injury – is under consideration for a place on the bench in tomorrow’s game.

It may not happen in such an important away game  but we are assured there’s a chance for the teenager who enjoyed such an impressive pre-season.

Page’s progress has been closely studied by the coaching staff and the fact that his name has been mentioned at all in relation to the Palace game is a testimony to the 19 year old’s abilities

TV pundit Glenn Hoddle mentioned him in glowing terms during the televised Europa Cup clash against Astra Giurgiu when Page showed a great range of passing and good defensive and offensive abilities at left back.

Slaven Bilic has a nearly fully fit squad but with Aaron Cresswell uncertain of making the match, there is a small chance for the Academy product.

A source told ClaretandHugh: “He’s right on the edge. We have a lot of fit players now but his name has been mentioned and that in itself is very encouraging for Lewis.!

Left back looks great with 3 good players and genuine fights for places,
We need the same at right back with Tomorrow just the first pick at the moment
Great to have talent in depth
