Australian Tour is cancelled

|

Adelaide_United_FC_logo.svgWest Ham will not be touring Australia this summer after talks with Adelaide United collapsed according to reports.  Adelaide local press claim today that negotiations hit a brick wall as the Australian local governments were £180,000 short of West Ham’s fees demanded for the two planned matches.

Adelaide United match aginst West Ham was pencilled in for Friday 14th July at Adelaide Oval with a match the next week against Perth Glory.

Back in March Adelaide United chairman Greg Griffin claims that his Australian team are close to securing West Ham for a preseason friendly clash but hopes now appear to be dashed.

It now looks very doubtful that The Hammers will take part the Premier League Asia Trophy. This year it will be split across Hong Kong and Shanghai, with West Ham rumoured to join Liverpool and Southampton in the competition but our  club source he believes that is no longer the case.

It could be blessing in disguise really . Maybe a summer rest and gym work will stop our constant injury problems . We certainly don’t need to be provoking more lay offs through injury for two friendly games of football . I realize that playing goes a long way to preparing the squad but , with our history of injuries it’s probably for the better .
