Video: Mario’s skills as deal “gets close”

|

Highly skilled Joao Mario is tonight close to signing a loan deal with West Ham which could see him become a permanent fixture next season.

Talks to bring the Portugal midfielder took on added urgency with the injuries to Marko Aenautovic and Manu Lanzini but it sees that immediate problem is now very close to being soted.

Mario is being reported ready to come to the club after the two clubs agreed terms which involve aloan fee believed to be in the region of £3 million with the Hammers paying the 43 million euro star’s wages.e.

So what exactly are the Hammers getting and rather than[ spend time trying to find the words to describe him, instead let’s have a look at the video above.

Obviously Youtube videos show the best of the player but there’s little doubt that he looks more than adequate to cover for Lanzini who is likely to be sidelined for anything up to two months after rupturing a hamstring.

Underwhelmed by the video. I’d heard he was a dribbler and saw nothing to show that. There was more evidence of him being an athletic central midfielder rather than a playmaker. He looks more like a Kouyate/Obiang cross, than a Lanzini style player.
Doesn’t look a goal threat at all, so talk of him being a stand in no.10 seems misplaced.

I’m not unhappy to have him on board for the rest of the season, but I wouldn’t expect many MoMs.

Underwhelming highlights reel is an understatement. He looks more like an expensive Ayew. Let’s hope we’re wrong and the powers that be know more than we do.

I’ll take him but don’t see him around in summer isn’t that fast & when players are bought bc Intk duty never works great but hope he does.
But much rather go for young Talent like Maddison to add much needed creativity.

Hope we are still keen on Dendoncker too has him & Maddison be present & future buys Mario does not so great & leaves who does really good & leaves so stop gap but has provided some Assists of bench.
But love at CM AM think Charley Musonda be worth a shout on loan from Chelsea bc don’t see Him working in AM role on break but Charley as pace & can break well also got assist on bench other day.

Hope it works out but sure wasn’t Moyes top Choice but Shelvey or Allen won’t happen should be raiding Bundesliga & Championship.

There is a reason why super Mario can’t get a game for Milan! Hope we aren’t about to discover it!

Mmm, I am as just as concerned about our forward line as midfield; the only fit striker is Chicharito. We are leaving it very late and smacks of complacency to me and “seemingly” arguing over peanuts in the grand scheme of things money wise!! Sullivan just cannot get away from acting like a barrow boy!!

  • Hammer64 says:

As I said before beggars can’t be choosers so I am not even bothering to look at the video. I would like to know if he is fit to start. Secondly how many games does he normally miss in a season.

If he comes that is good but I am not interested in how this proves we are moving to the next level blah bloody blah. Just get a decent striker & another midfielder who can get us to 40 points. Then that will be another rubbish season over. Then next year when you take our hard earned money can you please actually start running this club professionally & turning it into something we can feel proud of & delivering on some of those empty promises. Too much to ask for??

    • JRS says:

Not my first choice but lokeni said will take him his attitude & work ethic worry me the most from what Inter fans say but hopefully Moyes can sort it. And is WC year.
He has 5 assists in 10apps this season most off the bench so he can create & we need creativity like Jman43 I am also worried about CGa Chic I will play but needs service & partner Sakho would be best he says he is fit but club says he isn’t?
If we are going to sell then need replacement even of on loan like Musa for pace.

Mario’s wages £137k surprise me o wouldn’t thought he been on that kich maybe £60-80k but £137k.
Just hope he hits the ground running

  • Hammer64 says:

PS we need another central defender too but I realise Rome was not built In a day. Not even in eight years come to that….

  • master says:

hmm, trust a 5 minute youtube video or the approval of david moyes. think i’ll go with the latter. if he signs on the dotted line, welcome, come on you irons.
