As overhead goals Gareth Bale’s goal against Liverpool last night Saturday was pretty special.

The former Spurs man showed great technique in hammering home his effort soon after arriving as sub for Real Madrid.

The world and his wife, which included Gary Lineker, Rio Ferdinand and Frank Lampard described it in terms that did the world ‘superlative’ a disservice.

However, Hammers fans are used to such moments and some of will have found our minds wandering back to a certain Andy Carroll.

Take a look at the video above and recall a very special moment.

Well done Gareth Bale but it’s not Andy Carroll. 🙂

I didn’t notice Gareth Bale limp off injured after the game. Maybe we should sign him.

I’m fairly sure Selhurst doesn’t have such huge gaps behind the goals…

Was certainly pretty special Bales goal but would agree not as good as Carroll’s but then again Carroll is never likely to do it in a Champions League Final !

  • No of course not Selhurst – my error. CL or not – the technique remains just as special

I think Pelligrini’s clearout needs to include Carroll and Chicharito as well as a half dozen others. That should add a decent whack to the warchest.

The reaction to Garath Bales goal was incredible. Everyone was drooling over it. I was just thinking that it wasn’t as good as Andy Carroll’s. A decent keeper might have saved Bales overhead, but no one on earth was stopping Andy Carroll’s that day.

And they have not factored in AC’s size. It is well known that he has remarkable touch for a big man. It is the best known thing about him.

    That and his injuries.

    And the drinking.

    And his son’s name.
