Sam Allardyce wades into Arnautovic debate

|

Former West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has waded into the Marko Arnautovic telling the owners they should cash in now rather than face another Payet situation.

The 64-year-old was a Guest on Sky Sports Goals and told viewers “H’s the type of player that, when he wants to leave, you’re better off cashing in. His mentality will change. If the money is what they’re willing to take, they’re better taking it. Otherwise, he might be one of those that’s switched off. You don’t want another situation like Payet.”

The club have made it clear that West Ham’s joint top scorer is not for sale and even if he was available the Chinese bid of £35m is no-where near their valuation to allow the 29-year-old to leave in this transfer window. Manuel Pellegrini wants to send a clear message that he is in charge and this is not a Dimi Payet and Slaven Bilic where the club were forced to sell their star player on the cheap.  The board are happy to back their manager and allow him to make decisions on Arnautovic’s future.

We all know the board are not really backing the manager in allowing him to make the decision. What they are really doing is passing the buck, the responsibility and any blame onto Pellegrini if it all goes pear shaped. If they want to back Pellegrini then how about getting a replacement striker in.

This is such a stupid comment.

They are backing the Manger, they have given us no evidence to say otherwise. The have clearly backed him in the summer window.

We don’t have any money to get a striker unless, Arni is sold. They also won’t sell Arni, unless we have an agreement in place for a new striker.

It’s not that easy to just buy a striker, as most of our targets aren’t available until the summer. Which makes since, as generally speaking every team wants to hold on to their talent mid-season.

They have also stated, that every penny from a sale would be available for the manger to re-invest.

So I think it makes since for this to be the mangers decisions, that’s why he’s paid the big money, to make these tough decisions.

Not to mention the only offer we have ever received is 35 million euros. If we sold him for that we would make around 3million. Which in my and probably most view is not a fair price.

But why don’t we have the money?
Honestly, what was the point in moving to the LS if it wasn’t going to enable us to progress?
I agree that the board don’t appear to have done anything wrong in this scenario (yet), but they’ve certainly ******-up in plenty of others!

I didn’t say their not backing the manager. I said they are not backing the manager BY letting the division over Arnoutavic lay entirely at the feet of the manager. And to say we have no money to buy a new striker until Arnoutavic is sold is just stating the obvious. Because that’s exactly what I’m saying I’d like them to do.
