Former Hammer never wanted West Ham move

Former Hammer Luis Boa Morte has said he never wanted to join West Ham and the deal was done behind his back.
Boa Morte told the Portuguese media outlet Maisfutebol.pt    “I went to West Ham, which is a club with many supporters, but not of my own free will. I did not want to leave Fulham. A year ago, I could have gone to Newcastle and I did not want to force my way out. Then the CEO of Fulham decided to sell me and both I and Chris Coleman (coach) were caught off guard. They accepted the West Ham proposal. As a captain I thought I deserved more consideration.”

Boa Morte signed for the Hammers in January 2007 on a three and a half year contract for an undisclosed fee, which was believed to be around £5 million. He played his first game for the Hammers in an FA Cup tie against Brighton & Hove Albion, setting up two goals and on 13 January 2007 in the Premier League against former team Fulham. On 28 April 2007, he scored his first goal for the club in an important 3–0 win against Wigan Athletic.  On 17 June 2010, Boa Morte signed a new two-year contract saying that he was looking forward to working with new West Ham manager, Avram Grant for the next two seasons. In August 2011 Boa Morte’s contract with West Ham was cancelled by mutual consent.

    This is a game in which one can’t win a match without the other losing it so these people are as necessary as those who are at the top.

    I think that what he says shows no disrespect to West Ham but rather expresses his unhappiness with Fulham for having sold him when he didn’t want to leave

    I know he was not a crowd favourite but I see no problem in what he is saying

    Boa Morte played like he didn’t want to be at West Ham, but sure was OK with taking the money…?
