Adrian to Liverpool

|

Liverpool are close to finalising a move for former West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian as a replacement for the departing Simon Mignolet according to the Liverpool Echo.

Mignolet will on Monday complete a move to Club Brugge after the Reds agreed on a deal worth 7m euros which could rise to 9m in bonuses. And the Echo claim that Liverpool has moved very quickly to fill the breach by identifying Adrian, who is a free agent having left the Hammers during the summer.

Last week Claret and Hugh revealed Adrian was struggling to get offers close to the £50,000 per week he was reported to be earning at West Ham with the best offer being a quarter of what he earned as a Hammer. If true Liverpool is likely to match or get close to Adrian’s wage demands as Mignolet was said to earning £60,000 per week with Liverpool.

Should, as expected, the formalities be completed, he will be on the bench for the Premier League opener at home to Norwich City

Wish him well. He was a great player and person to have in the team.

Good luck to him. Couldn’t help thinking whilst watching on Saturday why we released him for Roberto (aside from the difference in wages).
