Antonio tight-lipped on future

|

Michail Antonio is entirely non committal on whether he will remain an Iron beyond January.

The former Hammer of the Year has been regularly linked with a move to Crystal Palace over recent months where manager Roy Hodgson is known to be a big admirer.

Asked about his future, Antonio is quoted on London Football News as saying: said: “It’s just one of them things where I’m trying to play football right now.

“Whatever happens, happens. I’m not saying I’m going to leave, I’m not saying I’m going to stay.

“It’s just that right now I’m not in the team and I’m trying to work my way back into the team.”

CandH says: It’s pretty clear that Antonio may well be one of those on his way in January. When a player refuses to comment either way it’s pretty much a giveaway that the chances are better than 50-50 a move is on and such has been the constant speculation surrounding him and Palace it would almost come as a surprise if he weren’t to make the switch. The only question is whether Manuel Pellegrini sees him as a temporary solution to his Andriy Yarmolenko situation although being brutally honest, he hasn’t looked the answer when appearing over recent weeks. There have been rumours about attitude and body language but whatever one makes of that, the sad truth is that he really hasn’t looked the player of a year ago before his injuries. Maybe we have reached the point where a move is in everybody’s best interests although he still has a couple of months left to prove a point to the boss.
